The Phelan Certified Farmers Market Participates in the
WIC Fruit and Vegetable Checks Accepted
Pregnant women and families with young children receive financial assistance in the form of WIC Fruit and Vegetable checks each month. These checks can be used to purchase fresh and healthfully processed dried, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables at any authorized food retail establishment.
In May of 2010, the California Department of Public Health launched a WIC Fruit and Vegetable program to authorize farmers to participate. The Phelan Certified Farmers Market Association is proud to be one of only four certified farmers markets in the County of San Bernardino authorized to accept WIC Fruit and Vegetable checks.
How it Works
Since the Phelan Certified Farmers Market is authorized to accept the WIC Fruit and Vegetable checks, each of our farmers who sell WIC authorized products will be able to accept WIC checks at their booths.
